TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM HOSTS A BATTLE OF NASHVILLE CIVIL WAR TOUR DEC. 6

Take a guided tour of the Battle of Nashville 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 6 beginning at the Tennessee State Museum. Tickets are $25.

Tennessee State Museum interpreters will take participants by bus to the important locations of the battle and explain what happened there including Belle Meade Mansion; Redoubt No. 4, a small Confederate fortification which was the first to be claimed by Union troops; Redoubt No. 1; Granbury’s Lunette, where Confederates repelled the Union Army’s attack; Battle of Nashville monument; Battery Lane; Peach Orchard Hill, where the Confederate line was anchored on the second day of fighting; and, finally Shy’s Hill. Battle plans and attack strategies will also be discussed on the tour.

The Battle of Nashville, fought on December 15 and 16, 1864, was one of the most decisive battles of the Civil War. After fighting in the bloody Battle of Franklin two weeks before, the Confederate Army of Tennessee was virtually destroyed in the Battle at Nashville.
